Hans Bølling's Pessimist and Optimist are characters with opposite personalities. He was inspired by observing his workmate's temperaments. The two figures simply reflect our general nature of positivity and negativity through their expressions.
Optimist (13cm tall) and Pessimist (12cm tall) are handmade using Teak wood and Wooven Cotton for arms. The arms can be shaped to reflect a happy (when stretched forwards) or sad (when raised upwards) demeanour.
